SoloJoe's Ascent of Wyanokie Torne (1120 feet)

Stats

Trip Report: Second part of two-fer from Otter Hole that began with Buck. No views today. Crummy weather: fog, low visibility, a little rain. But I had the morning free, so I had to take it.

Crossed Glenwild Avenue from parking area and followed blue Hewitt-Butler trail up and down as it parallels road. At junction on left with red trail, H-B Trail heads straight up NE flank of Wyanokie Torne. Nice, quick, moderate ascent. Took a left off trail at first of two cairns I encountered and bushwhacked around peak in search of true summit. Hit high spot of 1,138' on my GPS. Found one throne on south side of peak, but no Stone Living Room. Just another reason to return.

It's a really cool, relatively deep col between Oslo Rock and Torne. Used red trail north out of that col as shortcut back to car instead of reascending Torne.

Trail maps, sans contour lines, are available at Otter Hole parking area. Circuit including Buck, Wyanokie Torne, and loop to Oslo Rock and back was 5 miles and 1,600' elevation gain on my GPS.

A stone throne and a fire ring.

Could this be the actual summit of Wyanokie Torne?
