Summit Routes
- Route Name: Boulder Pine Peak via Old Coal Trail -by- Eric Koppel
Start: Bearfort Waters PA
End: Bearfort Waters PA
Description: This summit route begins at the parking area by Bearfort Waters on Clinton Road (P7 as indicated on NYNJTC North Jersey Trails map #116). The trailhead for the Old Coal Trail is at the front gate of Project U.S.E. Walk the road in, following the occasional red blaze. The trail will pass by the camp's headquarters just before the trail turns into a woods road hike. One will pass through pleasant hemlock groves and mountain laurel thickets while gently ascending. Recent trip reports indicate that the summit is just a short walk along a spur trail, marked with a sign "Split Rock". If approaching the summit via the Old Coal Trail from Bearfort Waters, the turn-off to the spur trail should be on your right (magnetic East).
